At the age of 14, I welcomed my new neighbors by bringing them freshly baked cupcakes. When the woman answered the door, she was holding her 3-month year old baby in her arms. Immediately the baby and I connected, the mother noticed and asked if I was interested in babysitting. That was my first time truly babysitting, and my first time, with an infant. Today, that baby is 9 years old and her and her brother, whom I have babysat before he was a month old are like my younger siblings. Since then, I have babysat for many families. I have babysat for multiple families with one set of twin boys 5 years in conjunction with a baby below the age of one year old at the same time. What are the odds! I have baby sat many infants below the age of one and currently I care for a Read more 9 year old girl, who attends the Dalton Academy. Thus, I am used to the schedule of a child as well. In addition to that, I have also babysat as well as worked with children and adults with disabilities, and been a teacher’s assistant in an elementary school in New Jersey. One of the reasons, I have chosen to watch children, is because I truly enjoy being around kids. As soon as I babysit a new kid, I truly take responsibility for them and view them as my family. I love children and truly believe I learn from spending time with them.
