Hi! My name is Debbie, and I am a professional nanny here in New York City. I love to play games and sing, dress-up and do arts and crafts, but most importantly, I love helping children learn and grow in a positive, fun environment. I am originally from Iowa. I am the youngest of 5 girls and the blessed aunt of 9 great nieces and nephews. In 2017 I married my husband and we welcomed our daughter in August 2019. I found my love for childcare at a young age and have been working in the field for 21 years. After graduating from Iowa State, I moved to New York City and became a full-time nanny. For the past nine years, I have had the pleasure of working as a nanny and now tutor for a wonderful family with two amazing girls. The girls were ages 1 and 3 when Read more I began the position as their full-time nanny, and they are now almost 11 and 13. For the past two years, I have worked for another amazing family with a 5 year old boy who will begin Kindergarten this fall. My daughter comes with me on my role as a nanny and tutor, and it’s been wonderful to see the bond that has formed between her and the children I care for. Along with caring for children, I also help with household tasks like laundry, errands and light housekeeping. I prepare healthy snacks and meals and assist with reading and homework. I have experience potty training, teaching children to read, etc. Teaching and practicing good manners is a priority of mine. I like to use games and charts to positively encourage the children to reach these milestones when appropriate. In the past, I have loved taking the children on fun educational outings to the park, museums, zoo, play dates, but I know that Covid has changed this a bit. My family has made taking precautions to stay healthy and safe a priority. We practice social distancing and always wear masks. I enjoy using my creativity to come up with age appropriate activities that will engage children and help them learn and gain knowledge of their surroundings.
