I have been a babysitter since I was 12 years old. The first child I babysat was a friend of the family who was born with a heart defect. Her parents felt comfortable with me being both a "mommy's helper" during the day, as well as leaving me with her when they went out on weekend evenings. I took a CPR class God forbid the baby had a seizure. Thereafter, I babysit for several families with as many as three children under the age of six. Now, at the ripe age of 43, my husband and I have just adopted a puppy. I've decided to cook her food since I would rather know exactly what she is eating as opposed to feeding her out of a can. Caring for the puppy has made me reminisce about my days as a babysitter where I tutored the children, helped them with homework, Read more made them dinner, got them ready for bed, read them a story and tidied up before the parents came home. I earned my doctorate in Anthropology from Rice University in 2003 which focused on collections of clothing as repositories of memory. Since finding gainful employment in the field was a challenge, I embarked on a career in Human Resources where I have been working for the last 10+ years in both the legal industry and at a non-profit. My Firm recently eliminated my position. I would like to supplement my family's earnings by babysitting for a nice family with caring parents. My hours are flexible and I am resourceful and creative.
