I have been working with children for the past 5 years, I am originally from Austria and came to America as an Aupair in 2011, I lived with a family in Ann Arbor, MI for 2 years and took care of their 2 boys, ages 2 and 4. As an Aupair I worked pretty much 45h from MO-FR, a typical day would look like this - waking the boys up in the morning, getting them ready for the day, make breakfast, plan out activities for the day, we usually went to the library or a park or the children's museum during the morning and came back home for lunch, put the kids down for a nap after lunch (usually 1 hour) do some housework while the kids are sleeping, if they have activities in the afternoon like soccer, gymnastics, piano lessons I would drive them there, if not we would Read more meet up with other nanny's and organize playdates at somebody's house or a park. The older boy went to preschool 3 times a week during the morning so I only had the little one after I dropped him off at school. He loved do to arts and crafts and listen to stories, the house was full with drawings, crafts and anything else we created. German is my native language and the parents wanted me to teach the kids, I would usually spend 30min-1hour a day and actively speak German with them, play games etc. and use some words during the day when preparing meals for example (names of food). I love those boys and am still in contact now with the family. For the last year and a half I was babysitting for a family also with 2 kids, a boy 5 and a girl 7. I would pick them up from school 4 times a week, usually go home first, make some snacks, play games, let them relax and then drive them to and from all sorts of activities. Both of them loved to do arts and crafts so I tried to come up with little projects every week. If the weather was nice we would always go outside, ride bikes around, play soccer or basketball or go to a park. Besides working for that family I also worked at a Daycare for the past year. Children as early as 2 month up to 8 years would be dropped off at the Daycare and I would make sure that they are safe and happy.
