For the last 4 years I have been working as an Early Childhood Educator. I strive to provide my students with knowledge they will be able to utilize in years of education to come. My goal is to make them ready for school by helping them build their physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and language skills through positive interaction and stimulation. Extremely important part of a daily curriculum that I use in my classroom are activities that help my students develop skills that they will need for their future education. In that manner, I implement activities that support their language development such as reading, graphics practice; activities for their physical development such as yoga and dancing; as well as various visual art and music activities. Prior to becoming the Early Head Start educator, I worked as a Home Based teacher for almost two years, at the same company. This experience provided Read more me with an excellent opportunity to work with parents at home and help them support their children’s development within their home environment. In addition to my teaching experience, I have great experience in working as a nanny. I was an au pair and babysitter for many years. I came to the United States seven years ago as an Au Pair from Bosnia and Herzegovina and within my Au Pair program I spent two years working for a family in Midtown. I took care of a three-year-old girl. I was with her every day, usually from 11am to 7pm, while her mom was working in an art studio. I prepared food for her, changed diapers, read to her, took her to the playground, gym, music classes, or the swimming pool. Occasionally I babysat for a family in Williamsburg. I took care of two-year-old boy. Played with him, changed his diapers, made meals, read to him and put him to sleep. I also spent time with him and his family outside the city during their vacation. I still occasionally babysit for two families in the city. I spend time with an adolescent girl and a teenage boy at the Upper East Side family as well as 7-year-old boy whose family lives downtown. We play board games together, card games, visit museums, and I sometimes make meals for them.
