Hi there! My name is Ashley.  I am graduate of The Boston Conservatory, where I completed my BFA in Musical Theater.  Originally from Minnesota, I grew up surrounded by music, nature, fancy delicious cooking, and science-loving parents.  I've been performing onstage (musicals, dance recitals, voice competitions) since I was 5, and decided senior year of high school to spend the next four years of my life devoted to it.  I started babysitting in middle school -- more of a mother's helper -- but I learned a lot about responsibility.  I spent my high school weekends and summers nannying for the neighborhood kids.  Once I moved to Boston I would regularily be asked to babysit/petsit/housesit for some of my professors.  Upon moving to NYC, I started working with a wonderful family of four. I spent three years being a homework helper, friend, confidant, chef, driver, family organizer, and member of the Read more family. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, and people to spend my first years with in a new city. In addition to working with families, I have worked as a camp counselor and creative arts teacher for several theater camps and schools in Minnesota, Boston, and NYC.  All of which have always resulted in reigniting my passion for the arts and finding inspiration through the fearlessness and bravery of the children I had the fortune of working with. I love to be outside enjoying the sun, walking through parks, exploring new areas, or doing something athletic.  I teach voice and dance lessons, as well as basic piano.  My parents are amazing cooks and I like to think they have passed down that gift to me.  I enjoy reading, especially out loud - I had all 7 Harry Potter books read aloud to me as a child and I know my childhood would have been very different if my parents had not done that.  I took French for three years in High School, and still have a basic understanding of it.  Both of my parents are scientists, and even though I chose a career in the arts, I am very focused academically.  I finished in the top 10% for both my High School and College classes.  I hope this brief intro to me was able to shed some light on my personality and if I would be a good match with your children.  Please don't hesitate to contact me wtih any quesitons.  I have a fairly open and flexible schedule for the school year.  References available upon request.
