I have cared for children and worked with children on various occasions. It is truly something that I enjoy and consider very rewarding. I first began to express my joy in caring for children as a babysitter for immediate family. I then worked at an elementary school summer camp as a Program Assistant two summers. My first summer I worked with children between the ages of 2 and 4. My second summer there I worked with kindergarten, first and second graders. I was responsible for developing and executing fun activities, providing academic support through tutoring, and supervising them during lunch, recess, and trips. I also worked with middle school children and high school students as a Program Assistant under the non-profit organization Rocking the Boat. There, my job consisted of helping both children and adolescents develop maritime skills and awareness of the environment while encouraging personal growth. Although she can't quite speak yet, I was requested to speak to her in both English and Spanish, so that she receives exposure to both languages.
