I started as a mothers helper at twelve years old, working for a mother of four who was a trained nanny. As I worked for her she taught me a lot about how to take care of children from newborns to five year olds. Three of her chiIdren have special needs. I then went to work for a couple who had a newborn little boy at the time I became his nanny. When I worked as a nanny for both families I was responsible for feeding, bathing, changings, nap time and playing. I also worked with another family who had a boy who has Ausberger's Syndrome. His mother was a pediatrician and I was the only person with whom she would leave him. I helped him do his homework,practice social skills, made sure that he got out of the house and took him to his activities. I now volunteer with Read more a program called Access Equestrian which is a therapeutic program for children and adults ages 4 and up. I help with supervising and working with both the children and the horses. I play games with the clients and help them to learn different skills. I have been doing this for the last few years.
