Lucy has been caring for children since she was fourteen. She has years of experience as an in-home babysitter for girls and boys ages four and up. Lucy loves helping with homework, cooking healthy and creative meals, making videos, creating plays and dance, and playing with legos. Lucy is also a dance instructor and arts educator. Lucy is certified in infant and pediatric CPR and First Aid. Lucy also has experience working with children with Autism, ADHD, and Cerebral Palsy. Lucy holds a B.A. in Theater and Dance (Dance Focus) and a B.A. in Philosophy with high honors from The University of Texas at Austin. Lucy is passionate about enriching children through the arts in accessible and meaningful ways. Lucy has taught ballet, jazz, modern, and musical theater dance to children of all ages at HITS Theater, Grady Middle School, and the Steamboat Springs Musical Theater Workshop, which she also Read more co-lead. She also practices improvisational dance and is passionate about applying this form of dance to instructing and choreographing children and adults with disabilities. Lucy has completed a mixed-ability dance for youth and adults teacher training and has taught dance to teenagers with Autism. Lucy also founded a mixed-ability dance company in 2012 and produced and choreographed evening-length works at multiple festivals. Lucy was the grand prize recipient of the 2014 George H. Mitchell Awards for Academic Excellence for her Theater and Dance/Philosophy Thesis, "Recognizing Possibility: Intersections of Disability, Contemporary Dance, and Social Philosophy." which is the highest honor awarded to an undergraduate at The University of Texas at Austin. Lucy is a lover of arts and crafts and had an amazing time as an arts and sciences instructor at the Thinkery this past summer, which is Austin’s new children’s museum. Some of her favorite activities include building cities out of cardboard and painting with unexpected materials. As a daughter of a children's cooking class teacher, Lucy also loves making recipes fun! As a babysitter, Lucy is passionate about encouraging children to cultivate their creativity outside the classroom, while also maintaing the structure and routines necessary for growth.
