Growing up in both the city and suburbs of NY and wanting a change of scenery, I studied both fine art and arts education in New Paltz, NY. Living and studying in a small country town was a perfect break from spending my adolescents in Queens and Long Island. Shortly after graduating I was presented with an opportunity to experience and relocate to Berkeley, California, where I was able to study under my illustration mentor, Brooke Scudder. After three years living in northern California, I longed to return to the art capital of the world. I returned to New York City in the fall of 2013. Since my return, I’ve enjoyed immersing myself in a supportive and thriving creative community, and having so many arts and cultural institutions at my fingertips! I have experience working for many Brooklyn based families, with children ranging from 14 months to 11 years old. My experience covers school drop off and pickup, homework help, meal preparation, playtime, trips to the local park and playground, trips to local museums, bathtime/bedtime, organizing and monitoring play dates, and more. Working with children has always been and continues to be extremely rewarding for me. Additionally, I get the added bonus of being inspired by them when we engage in any kind of creative activity. I thrive on a challenge and making daily activities more enjoyable, stimulating, and fun! Since everyone learns differently, I enjoy discovering and working with children based on their specific needs and how they engage with the world around them. I also love to encourage critical thinking and empower children by asking them questions and engaging in dialogues with them, about anything from what you see in a newspaper to what you view in an art museum. Having the opportunity to directly impact how children move through and see the world and see themselves is an art in itself, and a gift that gives back to everyone they engage with, myself included.
