I am recent college graduate. I enjoy reading, playing Scrabble, dress-up, jump rope and visiting museums. For the last 10 years, I have babysat children as young as 6 months and as old as 15. I change diapers, encourage safe play, perform light housekeeping, and prepare meals. A few summers ago, I was a Vacation Bible School (VBS) helper at my aunt's church in Massachusetts. Though it was not a paid position, I learned very valuable skills, like being patient. Patience with children is the most important skill needed when caring for them. Learning to laugh and being childlike helped me when relating to children. All the children that I have babysat, like how funny and down to earth I can be. I believe that each child comes with their personalities and the good personality traits need to be nurtured. Children are not robots and need adequate space to grow. Read more I was recently an Assistant Dean at a boarding high school in Auburn, WA. I developed a love for not only teenagers but for children as well. In order to challenge the teenagers to take care of their health, I created a 14 day health challenge. This challenged them to take care of their emotional, physical, spiritual, and mental well-being. It was great watching how careful the girls were to follow each part of the challenge. Even when they slipped up, I encouraged them to start from where they left off. Though I am still deciding what I want to do with social worker, I want to work with different age groups to truly know where God is leading!
