I'm a student training in child and adolescent psychotherapy. My background is in fine art. Although I babysat frequently throughout my high school years, my formal nannying experience really started when I moved to New York 12 years ago. I worked for 4 years as a nanny to a very active and prominent cinematographer who at the time had two little girls - ages 2 and 6. Most of my duties consisted of covering the time between school and when one of their parents came home much later in the evening: school pickups, play-dates, after-school activities, dinner, bath and bed. At times I worked for full weekends and even traveled with the family while Mom was on film shoots. After that, I was a personal assistant to a psychiatrist who had a 6 year old girl. A portion of my duties was researching and organizing activities for this little girl Read more who had a keen interest in art and occasionally taking her to the museum. I have continued to seek working with children in my current training as a child therapist. My coursework includes developmental theory as well as clinical work, and I find much gratification in witnessing and supporting children as they mature and transform and find their way. Growing up isn't easy! I find that my background in visual art provides an instinctive common language with children, who are so naturally visual and imaginative. I'm creative and playful as well as responsible, attentive and communicative. I live in Williamsburg but my school is on the Upper East Side, thus I am frequently uptown during the week and am happy to work with families in this area. I look forward to meeting your family!
