Hello! Here is a bit about me: I grew up with one older sister, two younger sisters and one younger brother - often taking care of them, with my parents at work or on a date. Since 2012, for 2 months out of each year, I have been a camp counselor at Camp Becket YMCA, a sleep-away camp for boys with an emphasis on communication and leadership skills. During this time, I provided 24-hour supervision and guidance for two consecutive four-week residential programs, planning and executing daily theatrical & sporting activities for two groups of eight 11-12 year old boys. I adapted to the individual, emotional, and medical needs of the children I took care of. For two years I have worked as a tutor and classroom assistant for 3rd and 4th graders (P.S. 134, P.S. 94) engaging in spontaneous conflict resolution and reflection throughout class, recess, and lunch. I Read more have babysat for several families in New York City over the past two years ages 6 – 12. I am currently employed as a Children’s Garden Instructor at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. In my job, I lead a group of 12 children in hands-on gardening instruction in a half-acre garden. I develop eco-theatrical, inquiry-based lesson plans including horticulture tasks, science experiments, cooking activities, and/or nature crafts.
