Hello — my name is Krystal! I’m an early childhood educator with a BA in psychology and 3+ years of experience working with children from birth to 5 years in a school setting. For that same period of time, I’ve babysat regularly for 6 families with children up to 10 years, including multiples and twins. As a college student, I also interned under the mentorship of a school psychologist, working with preschoolers on the autism spectrum. Most recently, I’ve served as a 2021-2022 Associate Teacher in a preschool classroom at a play-based nursery school where I’ve been employed since early 2019. I’m CPR certified and up to date on all vaccines, including COVID. I’m a New York native very familiar with Brooklyn and Manhattan. I’m also a native fluent speaker of English and have a limited working proficiency of Spanish (a heritage speaker working towards fluency). I pride myself in Read more being a culturally intelligent professional experienced in fostering compassionate relationships with people of diverse abilities and backgrounds (faith, gender, language, ethnic/racial identity, etc.). This is deeply important to me and extends beyond surface-level niceties. As a teacher (and human!), I find it crucial to respect, discuss, share, and embrace these intimate parts of each other’s lives. I can’t tell you how excited children get when they tell me about their faith traditions or I use words in a language they normally only speak with family. It’s a beautiful thing! And it works vice versa, as well — children have really appreciated when I share a bit of my own cultural background, including music and language. In my personal and professional lives, I’m passionate about art, education, writing, history, music, literature, and nature. I’m returning to school for advanced degrees in fine arts and art history to further expand my professional and academic knowledge. My rates for babysitting are $25 for 1 child and +$3 for each additional child.
