Hi there! I'm Aaliyah, an energetic, deeply compassionate, and experienced babysitter/nanny based in NYC, currently studying Applied Psychology at NYU with a completed minor in Child Development and Social Intervention. My heart is especially drawn to overnight care for infants, children ages 4+, and those with special needs including those with mental health challenges. I bring a blend of professional training, hands on experience, and a nurturing spirit to every family I work with. Over the years, I've supported children (teens and adults) of all abilities and temperaments from infants just 3 weeks old to energetic, curious 8 month olds navigating their milestones. One of the little ones I've cared for, A, started having sleep regressions around 4 months. I worked closely with his parents to develop a gentle nighttime routine that helped him sleep more soundly and gave his family the rest they needed. I've also supported neurodivergent children Read more (teens and adults) and those with physical or emotional challenges. J, a spirited 7 year old with autism and ADHD, has difficulty with emotional regulation, often expressing himself through hitting, kicking, and screaming. Through consistent routines, co-regulation strategies, safe body practice, and lots of patience, I helped him develop healthier coping skills, build positive relationships, and even learn to love doing homework! We play to teach life lessons and talk through tough feelings, which empowered him and created space for growth. My experience includes caring for children, teens, and adults with: Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Dementia, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Depression and Anxiety, Harmful tendencies/self-injury, Physical disabilities including wheelchair users and those who are legally blind. Whether it's helping a baby sleep through the night, supporting a child (as well as teenagers and adults) in crisis, or simply showing up with love and consistency, I always lead with empathy and a trauma informed approach. I value open communication with families and believe every child deserves to feel seen, safe, and supported. If you're looking for a reliable, trained (basic life support certification), and deeply devoted overnight caregiver who will treat your child with respect and warmth especially overnight. I'd love to connect! If you search my full name Aaliyah Burkett on care.com you are able to see my reviews as I am new to Sittercity. I’m also happy to provide references.
