Meet Jackeline

Growing up I was never one to know exactly what I'd want to be doing in the future but one thing was for sure, it had to include children. Ever since I can remember my house was always full of children because my mother babysat so many of the buildings kids. At age 6, I learned how to change a diaper before I learned how to ride a bike and i'm perfectly okay with that. My friends would always joke around asking me why I wasn't aiming to become a kindergarten teacher. Therefore, it didn't come as a surprise when I declared my major in Early childhood education at the City College of New York at CUNY. After interning for the maternity unit in Bronx Lebanon Hospital for a year and receiving my associates degree in human services, it was clear what I wanted to do with my future. Now Read more my dream is to move back to Albuquerque and open my own daycare. I just spent the past year there partnered with my father to establish his first restaurant. As a manger, my main goal was to make sure my staff's costumer service skills were always the best. I loved the restaurant industry but even there they noticed my passion for working with kids. One of the waitresses kid even called me aunt Jackie and I organized his 3rd birthday party. When the restaurant partnered with the Hispano Chamber of Commerce, I attended a great amount of networking events. When I came back to New York I knew it would be temporary and only to finish school because, I met so many people in those events that fully support my decision to open a daycare in the area, that I am convinced I have to go back. Although I am excited and eager for what the future holds, i'd love nothing more than to keep working with kids and enjoy babysitting for the two years I have left here.
