Meet Sukanya

I am the oldest of five children and growing up I was given the responsibility of looking after them when our grandmother could not look after us or during school vacations. This became the usual routine during breaks from school after I turned 14 and stayed in place until moved upstate for college. In addition to this, I volunteered at an after school program, Empire Camp, at my younger siblings school for a year when I was a sophomore in high school. During this period, I was given the opportunity to teach my own French classes to the 1st and 2nd graders after they finished all of their homework. Both of these experiences have allowed me to have a deep understanding of how to properly look after children in a way that will allow them to learn new things and feel safe and secure.
