Meet Catherine

As a child there was no one I wanted to grow up to be more like than my babysitter. She was responsible and quick-witted. She made me feel safe, and taught me how to have fun. Her reputation in my hometown was pristine. She was, in essence, the girl everyone knew they could trust; and when I became a teenager of babysitting age, I knew I wanted to be to someone else what she had been to me. I began watching children on weekends in middle school after I participated in a babysitter's certification program that taught me basic first aid and care giving principles. I continued to house sit and babysit for various different families on weekends as often as I could throughout high school and college. I knew how much I admired my caregiver when I was a child, and as a result I never took the responsibility Read more of caregiving lightly. I believe that it it my job as a sitter to teach a child lessons in love and patience, fairness and respect, and still make sure never to take things too seriously so as to relish in the joy and fun of every day life. I grew up in North Texas and moved to NYC after I graduated with a BFA from the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music's Musical Theatre Program. I work part time behind the desk at Pure Barre, and I'm typically assigned the role of "mother" in all of my friend groups.
