Hello! I have experience as a part-time nanny for the past 3 years, working with an exceptional 6-year-old boy and his family. I have gained valuable experience working in early-childhood development. I have also underlined my teaching experience below. I worked as a full-time teaching artist with Citibabes, a private art focused preschool in Soho, Manhattan. I had the privilege of filling several roles including, but not limited to, art teacher, crafts and jewelry teacher, and full-time assistant teacher. During this time I worked with children ages one to 12 years old. As the full time, 4's assistant teacher I lead several art projects throughout the year, namely, covering the animal unit where we learned to identify different species characteristics as well as their habitats through reading, imaginative play, and art projects. I also had the privilege of implementing a curriculum on rhyming words with a focus on Dr.Seuss books. Read more Nurturing creative thinking and problem-solving skills have been at the core of my teaching style. I really cherished my time there, especially because I had the privilege of working with a highly skilled lead teacher and a supportive team of co-teachers. I enjoy encouraging students to take ownership of their freedom to express themselves through words and the various art forms. Last summer I worked at Brooklyn Workshop Gallery as one of their resident artists. While working with children & families we experimented with ideas on how to use impressions of color in painting and drawing to evoke a feeling or mood. It was really special to share work space around the practice of mark making with very young children. Similarly, while working at the California Science Center, as Discovery Room Supervisor, my responsibilities included leading daily art and science activities for children ages 7 and younger. I facilitated tours and arts and crafts workshops, lead classes geared toward science discovery, and maintained and organized all art materials for student workshops. Further, I volunteered at A Place Called Home, a safe haven in South Central Los Angeles where underserved youth are empowered to take a quality direction of their lives through programs in arts education. I lead weekly workshops in drawing, painting, and photography. My love for working with children is authentic, I am very enthusiastic about nurture and being a mentor to their natural gifts and whole being.
