I raised my children alone since they were 2 & 4 years old. Today, I can proudly say they are two fine young adults. My son is 25 and a retail manager. My daughter is 23, finishing up her education, heading towards becoming a teacher. They haven't always gotten what they wanted, but I made sure they had what they needed, and my life has whole-heartedly revolved around theirs. I was active in their education and schools, and even went on every class trip with both. I worked overnight for many many years to be home during the daytime. Play-dates were often supervised by me. My children's friends thought I was fun & funny, their parents knew me, liked me and were very comfortable with me. I enjoyed it! In 2008, after a 25 years with Delta Air Lines, I accepted early retirement. I've tried several different work and business Read more paths- I wasn't very excited. Last year though, a couple of friends (he a school teacher and she a guidance counselor) gave me their thoughts. They believed I would be a perfect fit working with children in the schools. I thought GREAT and I did pursue it. Presently I'm with the NYC Department of Education as a Paraprofessional (NYS Certified Teaching Assistant,) working with regular and special education students. This young at heart 55 yo found his calling! I have extra time now, and my goal here on Sittercity is to earn some additional income while also doing something I really love. -While school is in session, I am available after school as a sitter and/or homework helper. -During holidays/school recesses & snow storms my availability increases. -Available on weekends. -Assist with transportation needs or schoolwork/homework. Playing catch outside or board games inside. Assisting with your parental concerns and accomplishments. -Available and look forward to 'hanging out' with your children while you're out on date night too. ** Please note ** I am a school substitute on-call this summer, and usually find out in the morning of the same day needed at a school, so I may or may not be available weekdays before 3pm. Don't hesitate to call weekday mornings if you need help...if I am available, I will be there! I love pets too, there's no extra charge for taking your dog for their walk!!!
