My name is Kristen and I am 29 years old. I live in Long Island City, Queens during the year, and Southampton, NY during the summer, as it is the town I’m originally from. I graduated from Manhattanville College (Purchase, NY), with a B.A. in Music, and I am currently a graduate student for Music Therapy at Molloy College (Rockville Centre, NY). I have 15 years of experience as a babysitter/nanny, and have cared for children of all ages from 7 mos to 14 yrs. I recently ended a part-time nanny position for 3 children (6 yr. old twins, and one 8 yr old.), due to both a newly completed year-long internship, and their pending move out-of-state. My responsibilities included managing the kids’ schedules and daily activities, commuting/driving them to various locations, helping with HW and after school/camp obligations, feeding/bathing/nighttime routines, occasional overnights and traveling, among others. My approach in caregiving is to find the most effective way to connect with the child, while helping to facilitate education and growth through my background in child psychology and development. I enjoy planning activities, engaging in music, arts and crafts, fun games, sports, reading, swimming, among several other events. I love animals, thus am comfortable with dogs, cats, or other house pets. (I have 2 dogs myself). I volunteer as a vocalist for a local Veteran's organization during Veteran's Day, Memorial Day, and Fourth of July services. I've also volunteered at an NYC music foundation for individuals with special needs, as well as homeless shelters and nursing homes throughout New York. I do not speak any languages in addition to English, but I have 2 years of education in American Sign Language and can understand/speak very little Spanish. I am a responsible, licensed driver and have my own car, and I have driven for families both throughout the Hamptons and NYC. I can do light cleaning and very light cooking, and am happy to help with additional tasks such as grocery shopping, running errands, scheduling, planning events, and/or personal assistant needs. I am a pre-certified still-water lifeguard and have been certified in both CPR and basic first-aid.
