I am a part-time student at the New School Univeristy, where I also work part-time in the Dean's Office. I have been a babysitter for as long as I can remember with a large family like mine, however I have been officially babysitting since I was 14. I assisted an aunt in running a daycare with several children from ages 3-11, and was often left in charge of them for hours at a time. More recently, a couple of years ago, I was responsible for babysitting for several different families as my full time job. The youngest child I took care of was a 1 month old (2 month premature) foster infant, who I carted around the city to various doctor appointments and food shopping trips. I also cared for several toddlers from 3 1 year old boys to a 3 year old foster girl. Lastly, I had experience with Read more another age range with a family with a 6 year old boy and a 10 year old girl. Many of these families had pets. I have assisted in caring for dogs, cats and a bunny. I was also constantly helping out with cooking dinners, washing dishes and general upkeep of their homes. I am proficient to fluent in Spanish, having been brought up with it, as well as a proficiency in American Sign Language. As a babysitter, I have always seen it as an exciting challenge to balance discipline with free-spirited fun and care. And I feel as though my many years of experience with a diverse age range has afforded me some insight in how to maintain that balance on a daily basis.
