I'm an understanding, warm, creative, reliable, and conscientious college senior at Hunter College. Academically, I am almost finished with my studies in both Comparative Literature and English with a focus in Creative Writing, and am pursuing a minor in Human Rights. In my spare time I am a copy editor and lifestyle editor for Hunter College's newspaper, The Envoy. I have extensive experience caring for children from the ages of 1 to 14. I have personal experience (8+ years) caring for children with special needs. Additionally, I have experience working with food allergies and auto-immune disorders (namely Celiac disease and Type 1 Diabetes). My experience ranges from after school homework help to supervising play dates, cooking, and making crafts. Becoming a caregiver was not necessarily a conscious decision, but more of an extension of my personality and natural tendency to take care of others. The well-worn phrase "If you do Read more what you love, you'll never work a day in your life" applies well to my perspective on my role as a caregiver. As an older sister to a special needs sibling as well as the oldest of 13 cousins, I have been caring for children all my life. I have found and continue to find happiness in helping kids learn, grow, and discover new things. What makes me a good caregiver is a combination of traits: patience, understanding, reliability, flexibility, and a creative approach to learning. I am happy to answer any questions you may have regarding my experience and/or background.
