Hi! My name is Ari Simner, and I am 22 years old from Long Island, New York. Ever since I can remember I have had a passion for working with children. My mother is an elementary school teacher, so beyond my own schooling I grew up around a classroom. I attended the Pennsylvania State University, and graduated in May of 201. My degree is in Secondary English Education with a minor in liberal arts. Throughout my time in school I was involved in the Friendship Tutoring program, which paired students with children from the State College area on Sundays. We were in charge of helping students with work, and being a mentor with them. I also worked at a daycare center for two years at school as part of a work-study program. Beyond this I have spent my last 6 summers working as a counselor at a day camp. My Read more first four years were spent working at the JCC Camp, and the last two years I was a counselor at a camp for children with special needs. It was one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever been a part of. I now am in school part time at Hunter College to get my masters in Special Education. I also work full time at the Rebecca School; a private school in Manhattan for children with special needs, which focuses on relationship based learning.
