I have worked as a nanny in San Francisco for the past 10 years and although I am looking forward to a new adventure in Boston, I'm incredibly sad to leave behind the children I care for. I made the choice to work with kids because I genuinely enjoy the connections I have made and it's one of the most rewarding experiences to gain trust and bond with the children I care for- who often become more like siblings. I think of myself more as a mentor and I've found that I work particularly well with children ages 7-12. I currently care for a 9 year old girl and I love the connection we have. I think it is particularly important for preteens to have someone that they feel they can trust and comfortable to open up to. My best references are the children that I care for. I've been Read more told by children they enjoy my company because I treat them with respect and I'm upbeat and enthusiastic. I keep in contact with families after I leave because the bond doesn't end when the jobs ends. I work to make sure I still see families after the job is over because if it's a good fit, they become like family to me. I've been very fortunate to meet wonderful people along my journey. I currently have 12 ECE units, a General Education certificate, a CPR certification and have been background checked. As far as my qualifications go, I was a teacher at an after school program in which I was in charge of organizing and engaging 20 11-12-year-olds. I was also a camp counselor for 5 years in which I worked with an age range of 3-year-olds to 12-year-olds. I interned at Highland Animal Hospital for 8 months, an experience that helped me to stay efficient and calm in emergencies. In the past 10 years I've worked with five different families, all of which I'm still very close with. I also have excellent references from house/pet sitting jobs in San Francisco . I'm very reliable, yet flexible and very responsible. My goals when working with children are to create an environment and presence of trust, to encourage individuality and self-expression. When I care for a child, I work to build a lasting bond and friendship. I am a huge bookworm, an arts and crafts extraordinaire and enjoy nutritious cooking experiments. I love to stay active whether playing sports, climbing trees or just going for long walks. I'd be happy to give you my references if you're interested.
