The experiences I've had throughout my life are what brought me to the realization that I love and want to be an Elementary School Teacher. People define personal success in many ways; to me being successful is discovering a purpose and being committed to working at it. I joined Team Tutoring when I was in High school. Team Tutoring is where high school students go to the Elementary Schools and tutor kids with disabilities. Two to three times a week after school I would go to the elementary school and tutor these children. The exhilaration I got from helping them was and still is indescribable. This was a major turning point in my life that pointed me in the direction of really wanting to teach. I continued Team Tutoring until I graduated high school. After working as a counselor for a few years, I was promoted to Group Leader for Read more West Hills Day Camp in the summer of 2011 where I was in charge of three counselors with a total of 20 kids. In my undergraduate studies, I worked as an intern at the Early Childhood Research Center in Buffalo. I have been a teaching assistant in Long Beach from Fall 2011-Spring 2014. I currently work as a 3rd grade co-teacher in the Financial District. Any opportunity for me to enhance my knowledge to become a prominent and effective teacher, and mentor, I take. My certifications are the following: NYS Professional Certification Elementary Special Education 1-6 NYS Professional Certification Elementary General Education 1-6 Teaching Assistant Certification Level 1
