Hi there! My name is Elizabeth, and I am currently a graduate student at NYU studying Performing Arts Administration. As a 2013 graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Journalism, I spent my first year post-college living in Madrid, Spain working as an English teacher and a dance teacher. I adore children and enjoy coming up with interactive games, songs and movement activities to engage in creativity and learning. I started babysitting when I was 12 years old, and have danced my entire life so have a great deal of experience working with children through dance. I have worked as a ballet camp instructor at the YMCA, where I was directly responsible for a group of 10-12 girls each week; as a Company member at my dance studio, I frequently led dance birthday parties and assisted with summer camps; and in Madrid I taught dance classes to young girls Read more ages 2-9. I have a strong background in tutoring, having participated in a number of tutoring and mentoring programs for at-risk students through organizations including A Child's Place (Charlotte, NC), CoachWrite (Chapel Hill, NC), CHAMP (Charlotte, NC), and America Reads (New York, NY). Since moving to NY, I have worked with a number of families (with children who are infants - 10 years old) throughout the city. I also have experience working with children with Down syndrome, autism and other mental and physical disabilities. I am comfortable working with children of all personalities, backgrounds and circumstances, and believe in nurturing each individual with patience and kindness so as to encourage confidence, maturity and a positive outlook. Starting in September, I have a pretty full schedule, but I am available to babysit on an as-needed basis (such as weekend nights). Please feel free to message me if interested!
