I have been a child care provider since I was about 17 and am currently a Red Cross certified babysitter. I have plenty experience with multiple children at once as well as special needs children. I enjoy being around children of all ages, sharing new experiences with them and teaching them new things. I believe that the nanny/babysitter plays a very important role in a child's life. Therefore, you should treat that child the way that you would your own. I love to read books to the children, sing/dance with them, and play with them. I lead a healthy and active lifestyle and would enjoy engaging in healthy foods and activities with children. These activities can include time spent at the park on nice days and fruit products rather than over processed snack items. While I have no difficultly cleaning up for myself or the children, I will encourage them Read more to clean up after themselves as well (if preferred). I would also have no difficulty taking the children to run errands as I have had great success with this learning opportunity in the past. Also, I am very open to learning new techniques as to how the child is being raised. Recently (throughout the months of December to February), I worked part time at the South Street Seaport Ice Rink. During this winter job, my responsibilities included supervising children while safely skating on the ice. Most of the children at the ice rink were families who lived close by and would skate regularly after school. This allowed me to form a special bond with certain children and their families. Children I have looked after in the past often had a pet or two that we would care for as a team! My responsibilities included, but weren't limited to: developing games, supervising children independently, conducting arts projects, leading group reading time, organizing snack time, assisting with homework, etc. I have been able to incorporate my musical and athletic talent as past families were often involved in similar or identical extra curricular activities. While babysitting, I am always interacting with the children whenever I have the opportunity. I really love engaging with the child and being inspired by them and hope that I inspire them as well! I strive to foster long-term relationships with families post childcare needs.
