I am a graduate student obtaining my Master of Social Work, and my ultimate goal is to focus on education reform and equality. I became re-certified in First Aid during summer 2018. I’ve been babysitting for 8 years, and I have worked with numerous families with kids ranging from infant to 12 years old. Specific tasks I’ve completed within my babysitting career include playing games, swimming with the children to ensure their safety, making lunch and dinner, completing light household chores, bringing the children to and from camp, changing diapers, making bottles and cooking light meals, performing bedtime routines, and assist the children that attend school with their homework. I’m an advocate for stimulating activities, such as board games or playing outside, rather than watching TV or playing on a tablet or iPad. As I am very active, I like to make sure the children are having fun. I have Read more a strong love for children, and I am responsible, reliable, and fun-loving. For two summers during my undergraduate career, I served as a summer camp counselor at Sunnyside Child Development Center in upstate NY. My responsibilities as a camp counselor include planning and directing activities, and supervising youth ages 5-12, as well as guiding and participating in recreational activities. This past academic school year, I worked at a homeless shelter for women and children in upstate NY, in which my duties included helping families transition to affordable stable housing. During my time there, I also created and implemented a childcare program centered around music, reading, and art activities. My nurturing and kind-hearted nature allows me to deeply care about the children I'm watching because their safety and well-being is always my first priority. I grew up with a phenomenal babysitter that turned out to be one of role models, and I yearn to be a role model for the children that I babysit.
