Hi, My name is Dan and I am an 18 year old freshman at Eugene Lang college at the Newschool. For this reason, I am only able to work part time. I live in Greenwich village. I was born and raised in a quaint town upstate called Saugerties, 100 miles north of the city. It is right next to Woodstock, NY. I am an active tennis player and teacher, and most of my experience with children was gained through the very unique medium of teaching tennis. Over the summer, I served as the lead tennis instructor at a kid's summer camp near my hometown. There I gave group lessons for both girls and boys varying in age and ability. The youngest and oldest students I worked with were 2 and 13, respectively. Group size further varied from 2 to 10 people in a group. This thus equipped me with good Read more multitasking abilities, the ability to think quickly and on my feet, and also gave me insights into the emotional state of children which helped me to maximize their potential as individuals. Most importantly though, the job gave me interest in the developmental process- in terms of both skill development and also cognitive and emotional development. To be clear, I am by no means a career baby sitter or nany and do not wish to embellish my one on one experience with children but rather highlight my interest in the learning and pedagogical processes that give rise to our rapid and full maturation as both thinking people and humans. I further believe that children have many worthwhile things to put forth (sometimes more than their adult counterparts) and believe they should be given the respect that they deserve and are so often robbed of.
