Hello! I’m a graduate student at Columbia University’s School of Social Work. A recent graduate of Bryn Mawr College with a BA in psychology. Growing up in Boston, I spent a lot of time babysitting in a city and absolutely loving it. I’m very familiar with New York and I’d love to have nthe opportunity to get to know you and your family as well as take part in the community. I have three years of sporadic babysitting and three years of consistent sitting/nannying experience. On average I sit for families of 2 or 3 children during evening hours or before school. For three years I was a mother’s helper for a family with 6 children, all under the age of ten. Needless to say, I got used to changing diapers, meal coordination, and thinking on my feet. Because of this, I love to get kids outside to play! I feel comfortable and have experience with large amounts of children such as birthday parties, family gatherings, and playdates. I also have tutored for many children I’ve sat for in elementary to introductory high school level lessons. Topics I’m an expert in are elementary and middle school math skills, US history, English, and English as a second language. I’d be happy to aid in homework or help proof read assignments. Along with this I don’t mind helping out around the house to make life as smooth has possible! For the last decade of my life I’ve known that I want to work with children. My passion is in psychology, and I want to use that through social work to better the lives of children living in poverty and families struggling with homelessness. Working with children, even in very serious situations, always brings me joy; my goal is to always make a child smile. I love babysitting for similar reasons, because it’s an opportunity to bring joy into everyday life. An average day with me as your babysitter might look like a preparation of healthy meals, a lot of games that are made up on the spot with the help of your child, some form of outside time (parks, playgrounds, going out to get a snack), and a little bit of down time which may involve naps or reading depending on your child.
