I have lived in NYC for the past 6 years while working on a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. I love working with children, and, as I plan to specialize in child psychology, enjoy every opportunity to spend time with them. I have over fifteen years of experience working with children, and have done so in a variety of settings. I primarily specialize in working with infants/toddlers and children with learning disabilities or behavioral problems. For those just learning to read, I have been trained in phonics based learning strategies and have extensive tutoring experience. As children inevitably grow older, I have experience tutoring and caring for middle school and high school aged children as well. As for me, I'm a former military brat who loves to travel and explore the world. I've recently become interested in photography and have taken several classes to expand my knowledge of the subject. I Read more also love working with my hands, and have taken several semesters of ceramics (to no avail-I'm terrible at it!). Personality wise, I love to laugh and am always cracking jokes. Children seem to love me because my sense of humor is right on their level, and I actively enjoy watching Sophia the First, Doc McStuffins, and Girl Meets World. My goals as a sitter are to provide your children with an enriching environment in which to learn. Some of my favorite things to do are to explore the museums, go to the park, and find random activities throughout the city that could be fun. I find that my current level of familiarity with New York City is the perfect mix of knowing where everything is and how to get there, while still having not yet seen or done everything. It allows me to be curious and eager to explore, without getting lost! And I hope that your children will be just as eager to explore the city as I am. If you are interested in any additional information, please feel free to contact me. As my program is fairly time intensive, I am only available for evening/date night positions. I would love to start a long-term relationship with a great family!  Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you!

Jessica has been sitting for us for the past year and has been great. She is always on time and has been able to accommodate last minute requests when needed. Our 2 yr. old son also really loves her and she clearly is very comfortable around children. I would definitely recommend Jessica to other families looking for a sitter.
