Hello! My name is Clarissa and I would love to babysit your kiddos! I'm trustworthy, reliable and a fantastic babysitter. About me: I'm 26, a rock climber, artist, yoga enthusiast, vegan (since the age of 11). I grew up in NYC but have also lived in Ohio, Michigan, California and Colorado. I'm all about getting outside in all weather and getting OFF screens. I moved back to NYC in December 2017 after living in Colorado for 4 years, teaching rock climbing and outdoor education in the mountains. I believe in experiential education, and I try and encourage children to be outside and challenge themselves whenever possible. When indoors, I appreciate engaging activities like reading, drawing and painting, and generally making or building things. I love books by Mo Willems, Dr. Seuss, Eric Litwin (Pete the Cat), and Oliver Jeffers (The Day the Crayons Quit). I also love building blocks, the Read more Marble Coaster Railway (as long as there are no babies to eat the marbles!), Slamwich and Set. I have been working with youth in a variety of ways since I began babysitting when I was eleven. I've cared for infants and I worked as a live-in nanny in California (for a family with an 8 month old), I've led summer programs and taken groups of 10-15 kids (ages 5-15) adventuring and exploring in the mountains, and I've been a tutor and mentor for children of all ages. In Telluride, Colorado, I worked in the youth section as a children's librarian. As a teacher at a pre-school and as an outdoor instructor, I've had to get certified in infant/child CPR and First-aid, as well as a Wilderness First Responder. I am still current with my certifications in CPR, First Aid and WFR. I enjoy working with youth in any capacity and have experience with anywhere from infants to young teenagers.
