Mary was our saviour! She has been staying overnight with us for at least 4 nights a week to help with our newborn, who is now 3 months. She started when he was 6 weeks, and he has reflux, so did not sleep well at night. From the first minute, she scooped him up and calmed him. She has lots of experience and is also very knowledgeable about all of the most up-to-date safety and care issues. She is reliable, compassionate, energetic, and truly loves children.

I am a little hesitant to give Mary the glorious review she deserves because then she will never be available! We fell in love with Mary from the moment we met her. She scooped up our little boy and us too, and we knew immediately she would put her heart into caring for our son. She knows quite a bit about child development and gets right down on the floor with our son and spends quality time with him. Last year when my husband's back went out, Mary came to help us in the evening after she finished her job during the day. I will never forget her helping us in such a time of need.
She is a smart and resourceful woman who takes her job very seriously and pays attention to the important things. She has become my friend and I heartily recommend her. That is when she is not busy working for us!!!

All I can say is I LOVE HER! She has been an answered prayer for our family. My daughter is one and adores her. They laugh and play and read. Mary helps me around the house and is a wonderful person to be around. I am home a lot so it is great to love her as much as my daughter does. I can feel the weight lift off my shoulders when Mary arrives which is priceless!

Mary worked with my family for 9 months before leaving with absolutely no incident, cause or most importantly without prior notice. This both frustrated and saddened my family because my children (2 yo girl and 9mo boy) grew to love her as she became like a member of the family. Her abrupt and unprofessional departure left my children saddened and confused - by not giving 2 weeks notice to find a replacement and transition the children she left them wondering when she was coming back and me scrambling for childcare (over the Chistmas holiday no less). I am a small business owner and December is a very busy time for me professionally. My husband and I trusted her with the care of our children but I can't stress enough how disappointed we were to find that her honesty about the terms of her leaving was questionable. During the interview process she stressed the importance of her getting 2 weeks notice if we were going to let her go but she obviously doesn't feel an obligation to reciprocate that courtesy. Also this month Mary had given one week's notice before taking a week's unexpected vacation which (as a small business owner) left me scrambling for child care and unable to work.
Although she claimed that the week off was to tend to a family emergency, I have reason to believe that it was to seek other employment. I'm truly very sorry to find myself typing this review.

Provider's Response

12/27/2010- Yes, I worked for Teresa Blume for 9 months and I was never late, did not call out, never disrespected her and was honest with her in everything. From day one, her kids love me and I love them like they are mine. I cannot believe Teresa is saying I took unexpected vacation. She knew my sister was involved in a motor accident and was in ICU for six weeks. In fact,I took the one week off to help her and her three children after she was discharged from the hospital. Teresa had had six nannies for the last two years and I'm the second longest one she had. Every nanny she had,she had written bad reviews about them. So I'm not surprised she wrote this review about me.For the past ten years I have worked with many families through sitter city and penny saver and also families have introduced me to their friends to work with. As you can see from the other three reviews, I'm kind, loving, respectful, patient and honest and easy to work with. Back to what Tersa said that, I didn't give her two weeks prior before leaving the job. In fact, I wouldn't be so unprofessional to leave the job without giving her two weeks prior notice. But what happened was that, I was forced to attend to a family emergency out of the country which I didn't have any choice.I tried to explain my situation to Teresa but she wouldn't understand. She is now very angry and had been sending me all kinds of E-mails and calling me a liar, retarded, stupid and many more and even went to the extent of demanding back her gift card she gave me for christmas. I must say that she even threatened me to send her back her keys, and every gift she had given to me immediately. I believe she wrote this review with the intention of destroying my career and thus prevent other families from hiring me in the future. But I know who Iam, I'm a good person to work with. You can read the other three reviews too.
