Hello Everyone! My name is Antoinette Stewart, I am originally a native of Southern California - a transplant to Queens, NY. I'm currently finishing up my program at St. Johns University for Broadcast Journalism. One of my favorite things about this big beautiful state is how much there is to learn, and explore - with everything seemingly at your fingertips. The previous line sets the tone for how I go about interacting and engaging with youth! I am a big advocate for making learning fun and I understand how important it is encourage positive growth in a child's life. As an only child, growing up, I was taught to be pretty much self sufficient from the age of 6, (cooking, cleaning, tending to myself), and now as a young adult I saw one of the most important factors were missing ... nurturing/interacting. In high school I participated in the BEST Read more Buddies Program, which dealt with kids of special needs. That was probably the highlight of my high school career; I learned to develop much patience then, and also saw that I have an endless compassion of working with people. In New York I did volunteer work at the Woodhaven Library, always on my toes trying to think of ways to engage the kids and show them how homework could be "fun" and why learning/reading was necessary. It was a success, and I wish I could have had more time there, but my school schedule at the time did not permit. Quick Notes: -Last year I was trained to be CPR&AED certified for Newborns to Adults -Have been in the babysitting game since 14 years old -Loves to explore parks and recreational places if its okay with Mom & Dad -Musically inclined -Loves to cook -And understands how important it is to keep things tidy, orderly and organized
