This past May, I graduated from St. Lawrence University in upstate NY on the premed track with a degree in Biochemistry. I am currently working as a patient care assistant (PCA) at Saratoga Hospital and living with family in Queensbury, NY. Ultimately, I would like to go to medical school, but for the time being, I'm focusing on getting work experience, saving money, and travelling. I have been babysitting since I was 13 - my younger sister, cousins, neighbors, professors' kids, you name it! I adore children (and I have plenty of references to prove it!). Throughout highschool, I "nannied" for my P.E. teacher's two children, picking them up from school everyday, helping them with homework, playing outside, etc. and I didn't stop in college. I often spent the hours between classes taking care of professors' children on our tiny liberal arts campus and weekends were typically devoted to my Read more two favorite girls in our small north country town. It's never just been about making a little extra money - it's about the experiences had, the connections made, and the unexplainable feeling of knowing what an integral role you have played in a child's life. As a child I was fortunate enough to have a babysitter who was more than just a babysitter - she was so kind and so special to my sister and I from the time we were toddlers and here we are today, 20 years later... She's still my role model. I used to tell my mom that when I grew up, I was going to be a babysitter just like Amber. I can only hope that I have had the same effect on "my babies" as she had on me.
