My name is Erjona and I am 34 years old. I am an LMSW with a focus on child development and over 10 years of experience working with children. I have worked with children ages 1-14 years old in both school and home settings. I enjoy working with children and helping them build skills to self-regulate and make sense of the world around us. I provide personalized in-home emotion processing and social emotional learning services to children through tactile-kinesthetic learning, and interactive emotional literacy tools. I also provide life skills assistance and self-regulation education and coaching for children with higher sensory processing needs. My approach to working with children and families leads to better understanding and management of emotions, more self-advocacy, less tantrums/acting out, more positive social engagement, self-sufficiency, and increased intrinsic motivation for learning. By accompanying children as they move through the world, I have a chance to observe their daily strengths, attune myself to their needs, coach them to process difficult and confusing emotions and teach them to skillfully navigate conflicts with others. Drawing from elements of Functional Family Therapy, I work collaboratively with parents, doing research to better understand their child’s specific needs, offering psychoeducation to increase their knowledge of child development, helping parents enhance their skills in managing children’s behavior, providing suggestions to adjust the home environment to meet their child’s needs, and connecting children to the right community resources. Additionally, I provide emotional support to parents and connect them to resources if they are having difficulty coping with parenting and adjusting to their child’s struggles.
