Hello, my name is Carolina Cabrera. I received a Bachelor’s degree in Dance and Psychology from Fordham University and I have 8 years of experience working with children in school settings and one on one. I am also fluent in Spanish and would be thrilled to teach your children Spanish as well as Dance if that is in your interest. Previously I babysat and tutored an 11-year-old boy with Autism. My responsibilities consisted of being on time to wait for his school bus to arrive at his home and helping him with homework until his parents arrived. I would also pick him up from school twice a week, take him to his afterschool activities, and made sure he got home safely. Previously, I also worked as a tutor at an afterschool program. My responsibilities there consisted of helping 5-10-year olds with their homework, assisting counselors with their lesson plans, and Read more making sure that students were in a safe environment. I also babysat one of my 4-year-old female dance students. I took her home after dance class and babysat her until her mom arrived. I would take her to the park, help her with reading, vocabulary, practice our dancing and play creative games! As a dance teacher, my responsibilities consist of preparing age appropriate lessons to improve cognitive and motor skills, creating dance combinations and activities that stimulate learning and emotional expression, making sure students feel open to express themselves by providing a safe, positive and fun environment. Moreover, I communicate effectively and respectfully with parents, teachers, and directors to ensure everyone was on the same page with the progress of each student. I believe that what makes me a good teacher and caregiver is that not only do I have the patience, and the passion for working with children but I also recognize the significant impact that a teacher/caregiver can have on a child’s development. Majoring in psychology has helped me to understand how children develop and the importance of having great teachers. I can say that I was fortunate enough to have the most wonderful teachers while growing up and I would love to give back and also have a positive impact on children's lives.
