I love doing activities that are both educational and fun with a healthy dose of imaginative playtime, crafts, and stories. I'm not a big fan of television or video games and always strive to keep kids engaged in other activities. I love cooking, but if I'm sitting for your kids I'll probably go for something simple so I can spend more time with them. Some things you can count on when I'm around: I'll do my best to give your kids the healthy snack/dinner option around the house, I encourage cleanup time so you won't find the house a disaster when you get back, I'll do my best to uphold your style of discipline and I won't be playing on my phone/ignoring your kids. I've been sitting for about 10 years. I started as a mothers helper where I tutored two girls (3 & 5) in reading, writing and science. Read more Most of the time we would do science experiments together, or come up with ways to turn everyday games into educational tools. I've sat for more families than I can really keep track of and I've never met a kid that I couldn't get along with! I have a really great network of families I work with downstate but no connections now that I'm in Syracuse. A little bit about me: I'm a grad student at ESF and work summers at a nature preserve where I co-teach a science research program for high school kids and do a ton of invasive plant management! I am first aid certified (June 2016), and I was a resident assistant in college so I've had my fare share of crisis management.
