During the school year, I work as a speech-language pathologist (SLP) in an elementary school serving preschool students to 5th graders, many of which have specials needs (in addition to speech-language needs). Throughout high school and college, I worked as a babysitter for children of all ages, the youngest being 6 weeks of age. Working with children has always been a joy and a privilege, which is why I'd like to continue with it as a part-time position during the summer months and occasional nights/weekends during the school year. Though I currently don't hold a valid CPR certification, I have in the past, and would be willing to get re-certified. My most recent first aid training was in August 2015 through my employer. References are available upon request, but I like to notify previous families before they receive a call from potential clients, as I've spent the past several years Read more working on my career as an SLP rather than a babysitter, so calls would probably be unexpected after 3+ years of not working with families. I do keep in regular contact with families I've worked with, and the only reasons I don't work with these families are due to my location change and my lessened availability due to my full-time position in a school. I am definitely willing to negotiate pay based on your children's ages and their needs, along with any transportation I would be providing. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, other family members, and friends. Baking treats and trying out new, healthy recipes is something I have fun doing, and I love baking and/or cooking with the children I babysit for (with parent permission). Additionally, reading is one of my passions, along with maintaining my fitness/well-being with regular exercise.
