Hi there! My name is Andrea. I recently graduated with my BS in Psychology from the University of Cincinnati. I work part time at a private practice for counseling as an office assistant. I think that babysitting would be a great way for me to fill some of my free time. One of my first jobs was back when I was in middle school. I started babysitting for a family at the end of my street. From there I decided to take a Red Cross babysitting class so that I could branch out to other families in the neighborhood. I always loved interacting with the kids, in addition to lending a helping hand to local parents. In high school I became a Red Cross certified life guard, which included a first aid and CPR certification. I not only life guarded at the local pool, I also taught swim lessons and Read more coached for the swim team. I then went on to college where I swam for UC. As a student athlete I did not have much free time for jobs unless it was summer where I was no longer taking classes. In the summers I would help host our swim camps. One summer I also worked as an adventure guide at the zoo! I have always been very passionate about learning as well as teaching. Last Spring break I even had the opportunity to travel abroad to Vietnam where I helped a non-profit called Catalyst renovate a local school. I interacted with children of all ages and learned so much about the culture and how to connect even with a language barrier. This past summer was one of my most intense child care experiences. I helped a family transition their 16 year old daughter back into a regular every day schedule after she was in an inpatient program from a Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD). I was with her every day five days a week. I helped her with household tasks, talked to her about her struggles, kept her on track, all while keeping her busy. We did some fun activities like going to the dog park, zoo, or aquarium. In addition to that we did chores and would volunteer at Matthew 25. Her changing temperament could be a challenge, but it was such a rewarding experience. Eventually I plan on going back to school, and I have always wanted a career path working with children. This could be a great opportunity for me to get some experience and help some amazing families!
