For the past two years I have been serving as an administrator on the management team for an after school and summer camp program based in Elyria. My passion for healthy child development drew me to the organization because we primarily serve disadvantaged youth. Throughout college coursework and counseling clinicals, I became very familiar with the multifaceted risk factors children are facing. I have learned these vulnerabilities are present in all communities despite regional demographics and socioeconomic differences with the variety of work opportunities I have been blessed with. I have devoted my life to connecting children and their families to the appropriate resources so youth can thrive because it really does take a village. During the past year, I was able to secure over $200,000 in foundation and government funding so my team could provide wraparound services to 140 K-12 graders at no cost to their families. Grant writing Read more has allowed me to demonstrate my knowledge of child development and evidence based programs, while remaining current on new findings through research necessary to construct proposals worthy of award. I am currently in the process of securing an Ohio Administrator Credential with The Ohio Child Care Resource and Referral Association (OCCRRA). Serving as a pseudo executive director for an interim period gave me a wealth of leadership exposure that I wish to grow and practice in an organization that specializes in early childhood and has high notoriety within the community at some point in the next couple of years. I am a mom to a four year old boy who is thriving and fun to be around. I am looking at private childcare to find a family that will allow my son and myself to provide care on a regular basis. After working full-time for two years, I have found my passion is in direct service and I highly valued being able to raise and educate my son in the same way I have been providing to other youth.
