I have been providing childcare from my home for almost 2 years. I am visually impaired and have completed household skills and home management training through the Department of Rehabilitation Services with the state of Oklahoma, some of this training coming from legally blind parents themselves. My primary caregiving position has been with a shy 3 year old boy who I worked with on potty training, baking from scratch, and rewatching The Incredibles as many times as possible. He is 5 now and I am still his mother’s first choice for her babysitting needs. I also have experience working with children ages 8, 9, 11, and 12 with whom I found myself helping with homework, preparing meals, constructing pillow forts, playing hide-and-seek, dancing to Taylor Swift, and pretending to be on the run from dragons.
