I have a Master's degree in Applied Developmental Psychology which means I study how children develop and what helps them achieve their greatest possible potential. I'm currently pursuing my doctoral degree in the same field, scheduled to have my PhD by June 2017. My classes have focused on theories of child development and understanding what influences how children develop, particularly for children from 3 to 13 years old. Prior to becoming a graduate student I taught infants, toddlers, and two-year-olds for 12 years at a large NAEYC accredited center in Beaverton. I specialized in working with two-year-olds with some degree of behavioral concerns and excelled in connecting with both the children and their parents. I often worked with multiple children from the same family and built strong relationships that lasted many years, even now that my first "babies" are becoming teens. In addition to being a teacher and student, I Read more am also a parent to three teenagers: two girls (my daughters, 13 and 15 years old) and one boy (my step-son, 14 years old). My husband and I work very hard at providing the structure, support, love, guidance, and routines they all need to succeed in life, relationships, school, and future careers and have seen great results along the way. All of the children are working above their grade levels in math and are active in extracurricular activities (marching band, track & field, honor societies). We have worked through issues unique to each teen including ADHD, anxiety, behavioral concerns, and self-esteem. In short, I have the professional, educational, and personal experience to provide the optimal level of care to your child or children with particular attention to their specific needs and your desires for their wellbeing and care. I'm looking for part-time work (MWF) through the summer to keep me busy and in touch with children on the days when I'm not teaching my undergrad course on research methods. Other hours may be possible, just let me know what you need.
