Makaela Press I’m currently a second year student at the University of Oregon and I’m majoring in International Studies. I’m the oldest of three, I have two younger siblings, a little brother who is 7 years old and a little sister who is 9 years old so I have a lot of experience with children. Along with babysitting and nannying for a number of families in my community here is some of my other experience working with children: Coach at Kids sports Camp For two summers I have worked as a director for Skyhawks Sports Academy which focuses on providing a safe, fun, skill-based experience for kids. I worked as a director of tennis and soccer camps for children of all ages and I had complete responsibility over all of the campers as well as my assistant coach. I worked with a variety of ages ranging from tiny tots (1-4) Read more and the regular camps for kids ages 7-14 Au Pair The past summer I spent 6 weeks working as an Au Pair (international nanny) in Spain. I lived with my host parents and their 4 year old daughter. I watched Martina from 8am-7pm 5 days a week and did tasks including helping her get dressed and brush her teeth. I was also responsible for making breakfast and lunch and taking her to swim practice everyday. For fun we would go to the park, pool, or library to look at books. (I am happy to provide contact info if you want to talk to my host parents personally) Regular Volunteer at the Boys & Girls Club in Eugene I work with a club on campus called Duck Corps that reaches out to various organizations in Eugene seeking volunteers. Once a week I lead a team of students and we volunteer at B&G club. I help in the education room by facilitating arts and crafts projects, reading books to kids, and helping them with their homework. Children's Miracle Network I work through the University of Oregon's dance marathon to raise money for our local Children's Miracle Network hospital. We meet regularly with the families and Miracle kids who rely on the Miracle Network to help with their expensive medical procedures. My brother was born in the NICU so I also have experience with premature babies. Outdoor School Counselor In high school I served as an camp counselor for Outdoor school, an overnight week long camp that teaches 6th graders more about the environment. We led campfires overnight, teaching new songs and dancing and in the day lead educational activities outside.
