Hello, my name is Andrea Gutierrez and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to explain my history and past projects working in diverse childcare environments. These experiences along with my passion for children, education and safety make me an asset to any household. I have worked with children and young adults in various capacities over the years, both as paid positions and volunteer work. This includes mentorship partnerships, programs that help students with their homework and study skills. I have also led a class of pre-k students in several activities emphasizing culture, race and gender, which I created during an internship as an assistant teacher while in university. Even before this, I was raised with the responsibility of caring for my young twin sisters and our cousins while our families worked; I often transported the younger children to extracurriculars, cleaned and cooked light meals in the evenings. As I Read more matured, the responsibilities of childcare felt natural and normal, as I had been actively practicing them for most of my life. Since then, I have been hired to babysit for numerous different families and feel very comfortable adapting to varied lifestyles and environments. I now certainly have the creativity and know-how to provide fun activities for kids of all ages that will get them away from their phones and their consoles! (I know Portland pretty well and there are all sorts of cool things to do.) I love art projects, music and being outside. I would really appreciate the opportunity to work for a family who encourages trips to the park or to the pool. I have a license, a clean driving record and am very reliable in my adherence to instructions and schedules. I am trained in CPR and first aid and also possess an Oregon Food Handler’s License. Additionally, I am enrolled in the Central Background Registry and can provide my registration number upon request. More importantly than this, however, I understand as a nanny or babysitter I am expected to act according to the rules of the household and allow for open communication so there is consistency throughout the children's day. I appreciate having friendly working relationships with parents and value their feedback immensely.
