I am here searching for an amazing position to bring my heart to! Here is a bit about my value system and the unique gifts that I bring to my work. My belief is that every person deserves to be respected for the individuals that they are. My approach is to understand who a child is and learn how to get their needs met in the way that works best for them. I do this by being an attentive, present and patient listener. I'm an observer & my intuition is strong. My focus is also on helping kids by fostering their interests through daily activities and experiences. I am an active person with a healthy lifestyle that I share with the kids I support. I'm a very open person and always trying to find new ways to better the lives of others. I worked at a Women's in-patient treatment center for substance abuse (DAPC), where their children stayed with them while they recovered. I cared for the children while their mom's were in groups/ classes & training. I was responsible for all aspects of the children's care. I supported them holistically: meal preparation, feeding, changing, playing, crafts, naps, set boundaries, re-directed & supported their emotional space. I have also raised two children of my own who are now 17 & 18. I was a babysitter from ages 12-16 for many families in my neighborhood too. I'm a great listener & a problem solver. My passion is to work with children again. I love bringing my joy and light to the kids I support! I currently work with amazing adults whom have various intellectual and or developmental disabilities. I am responsible for all aspects of their daily care as well. I have experience with bathing, changing, house cleaning, meal preparation and feeding, medication management, and transferring. My background check was done by Aging & Disability in Feb. 2015.
