Meet Milly

My name is Milly. I fell in love with caring for children when my brother, David, was born, twelve years ago. I became "Mom's little helper" and cared for him like he was my own son while my mother went back to work. As I got older, I began babysitting my three neighbors, who were all between the ages of three and five (two being a set of twins). I did this once every week or two for about three years. I built unforgettable connections with these children, as I got to watch them grow and learn - what an amazing experience. My passion for care-giving grew about a year and a half ago, when my mother became a foster mother. Over the year, took three different babies (between the ages of 4 months and 2.5 years) into her home. Helping my mother care for foster children gave me the Read more chance to bond with much younger children from very different pasts, as well as nurture them during these difficult times for them. I have recently relocated from Orlando, Florida, to Portland, Oregon, and as I prepare to one day have children of my own, I want to pursue my passion for the caring of children by continuing to babysit as I grow and adapt to this community within Portland. Some of my other passions include running, riding my bike, reading, nature, cooking healthy foods, cleaning, and performing research (I recently graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular/Microbiology)! I am eclectic and always looking to learn new things. I strongly believe that children are our future and deserve the world, and am excited to be able to contribute to that!
