Hi! I'm Alex, and I just moved from Los Angeles to the center city Philly area and am looking for babysitting or tutoring opportunities. I am a PhD candidate in sociology at UCLA and recently moved back east to be closer to my family once I completed my teaching and course requirements. Currently, I'm in the writing phase of my dissertation. I have a Master's degree in in Sociology from UCLA and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and French from Northwestern. During my time in LA, I babysat for two amazing young women beginning when they were 12 & 15 until the oldest went off to college this past year. As they got older, my role transformed from babysitter to tutor, which I really enjoyed. Having the opportunity to see these girls grow from pre-teens to young adults was wonderful, especially because they treated me as a mentor. When I Read more lived in Chicago from 2010-2012 I was a full-time nanny for a little girl for nearly two years, beginning when her mom went back to work after maternity leave through her 2nd birthday. Watching her grow from a 3 month-old infant into a confident, sparkling toddler was an incredibly fun and rewarding experience!  Both of these families and I still keep in close touch; I am lucky that we still have such a strong connection. I was also a part-time babysitter for a baby girl in Evanston during my junior and senior year of college. I am currently looking for a part-time babysitting position, ideally once a week during the day in summer, or periodic evenings for date nights or late work nights. I do not have a car but am able to take Uber or SEPTA to my destination. I have extensive experience in babysitting, both with infants, toddlers, and 12-18 year olds. I am also CPR-certified for both infants, children, and adults. I've been babysitting since high school, and it is something I truly love and miss. I really enjoy being a part of a child's development, while getting to know a great family as well. I pride myself on my responsibility, warm-hearted nature, and ability to adapt to various situations. During my time in LA, I was an academic tutor in pre-Algebra, Algebra, English/essay writing, statistics and French. I am also a college counselor. Other interests of mine include yoga, reading non-fiction, modern art, teaching (I taught high schoolers in Chicago every Friday during college), and cycling. I can't wait to find the right family match and begin a new relationship with them as their sitter!
