As the oldest child of five siblings, being a babysitter has always been a part of my life. I have been a professional child care provider since middle school following getting my Red Cross Child Care Training certification. I am currently in the process of getting re-certified in Advanced Child Care by the Red Cross. I consistently babysat for a few families in my community from age 14-18. I love integrating fun educational experiences into daily activities including going to the library, playing board games, learning about science, and creating projects such as models and dioramas. I am currently attending Minerva College which emphasizes active learning that involves kinesthetic and experiential education which have shaped my perspective on how to engage with children effectively. When taking care of children I enjoy creating a structured yet entertaining experience. A typical day might look like this: 8:00-8:30 Get dressed and ready for Read more the day 8:30-9:00 Breakfast 9:00-10:00 Morning Creativity Time (age appropriate art or music activity) 10:00-11:30 Outside Playtime (play tag, build a fort, sports etc) 11:30-12:00 Lunch 12:00-3:30 (Educational activities, 30-45 minutes of TV or video game time if allowed, snack, going out to the playground or for a fun trip [Depending on age, nap time would be included here]) While this may be the plan for the day, I understand how unexpected circumstances may come up and am incredibly flexible in adjusting to the unpredictability of child care!
